The Glass Cannon Forged: 20.5cm Royal Guard's Claymore Replica (53g)
Welcome back to the BlacksmithSONG forge. In our last build, we proved that we could carve organic textures into cold metal with the 52g Wooden Bow .
Today, we leave the peaceful forests and step onto the red carpets of the ruined Hyrule Castle. We are examining a weapon forged with ancient Sheikah technology, designed for the King's royal guard, but now tainted by dark magic: the Royal Guard's Claymore .
Before we discuss why this two-handed sword is mysteriously lightweight, watch its dark silver finish reflect the eerie light of the corrupted library in our diorama below:
The 20.5cm Paradox: Forging a 53g "Glass Cannon"
If you have been following our forge records, you know we have crafted three swords that are exactly 20.5cm in length. But their physics could not be more different.
In the game, the Royal Guard weapons possess massive attack power but break incredibly fast. They are the definition of a "glass cannon." We replicated this exact design philosophy in our zinc alloy casting. Look at the matrix:
| 20.5cm Zelda Relic | Gram Weight | Blade Engineering (Cross-Section) | Combat Style |
| Royal Guard's Claymore | 53 g ! | Deep Fullers, Extreme Tapering | High Speed / Brittle |
| Razor Sword | 87 g | Split / Forked Blade | Aggressive Slicing |
| Biggoron's Sword | 137 g | Solid, Thick Ingot | Heavy Blunt Trauma |
Think 53g is surprisingly light? The paradox goes deeper. Check out our review of the [one-handed Royal Guard's Sword], which is the exact same length but weighs an incredibly dense 104g!
How is a two-handed claymore so light? Look at the handheld scale image. The blade features massive cutouts and deep "fullers" (blood grooves) running down the center, and the edge tapers aggressively to a needle-like point. By stripping away all unnecessary zinc alloy, we created a 20.5cm weapon that weighs only 53 grams. It feels incredibly aerodynamic in the hand—designed for swift, lethal strikes rather than heavy smashing.
The Blacksmith’s Q&A: Addressing the Corruption
When dealing with a weapon from the corrupted castle, our buyers often ask our AI and forge masters these questions:
-
Is the metal replica fragile like it is in the game?
-
No. While it is lightweight (53g) by design, it is still cast from premium, high-pressure zinc alloy. It won't shatter after three hits like the digital version, making it a permanent addition to your desk.
-
-
What are the red accents on the blade and hilt?
-
The blade features intricate silver and black Sheikah-style geometric lines. The striking crimson red in the grooves and the emblem near the hilt represents the sinister corruption of Malice (or Gloom) that overtook the royal armory.

The Corrupted Castle Diorama
A weapon born of tragedy belongs in a ruined sanctuary.
For this studio shoot, we placed the dark blade on a royal red carpet, surrounded by a destroyed library and the creeping, purple-black slime of Malice. Displaying this sleek, dark artifact on its vertical stand brings a sophisticated, "dark fantasy" aesthetic to any gamer's workstation.
