Melted Ice and Lannister Gold: Why the 177g "Oathkeeper" is Our Most Expensive Replica

01 Jan 2026 0 comentarios

Let’s address the elephant in the room immediately: This sword costs $29.99.
In the world of miniature collectibles, you can usually pick up a keychain sword for ten bucks. So, why does Oathkeeper command such a premium?

I asked myself the same question until I actually picked the thing up.
Most replicas feel like, well, replicas. Oathkeeper feels like a solid ingot of metal that just happens to be shaped like a sword. At 177g, it is the heaviest item currently sitting on my desk.

This isn't just a toy for a Stark fan; it’s a piece of "Lannister arrogance" brought to life. Here is a hands-on look at the engineering behind the bling.

⚒️ Key Specs at a Glance

  • Total Length: 30cm (Standard Class).

  • Net Weight: 177g (The absolute heaviest in our armory).

  • Material: High-Density Zinc Alloy with Antique Gold Plating.

  • Scabbard: Wrapped in crimson patterned fabric (unique feature).

  • Price: $29.99 (Premium Tier).

The Weight: 177g of "Melancholy"

In the show, Tywin Lannister melts down Ned Stark's massive greatsword, Ice, to create two smaller blades. Oathkeeper is one of them.
The "heaviness" of this lore translates perfectly to the replica.

  • The Physics: While Longclaw is heavy at 157g, Oathkeeper pushes the scale to 177g. You can feel that extra 20 grams in the hilt. It’s dense.

  • The Feel: Because the crossguard is so thick (solid metal lion heads), the center of gravity sits right in your palm. It doesn't feel flimsy; it feels like you could actually parry a blow with it (please don't try this).

The Hilt: A Nightmare to Mold

If you look closely at the photos, you’ll see why this mold was expensive to produce.
Standard swords have a straight bar for a crossguard. Oathkeeper has two roaring lions.

  • The Detail: The lions aren't just vague blobs; you can see the fur texture in their manes. Their eyes are set with faux-rubies that actually catch the light.

  • The Pommel: The pommel is another lion's head, finished in an "Antique Gold" rather than a cheap, shiny yellow. This gives it a weathered, realistic look, as if it’s been sitting in the Red Keep for years.

The Scabbard: Fabric, Not Just Plastic

Here is the detail that actually surprised me.
Usually, scabbards on these miniatures are just painted metal or smooth plastic. The Oathkeeper scabbard is wrapped in a textured, red and black patterned material that simulates the tapestry-like fabric seen on the show prop.
Combined with the ornate bronze/gold locket and chape (the metal bits at the top and bottom of the sheath), it makes the scabbard a display piece in its own right. You almost don't want to unsheathe it.

Check the video above. We set the scene with wine goblets and gold coins because, frankly, this sword looks out of place anywhere else.

Lore Context: A Sword for a True Knight

Despite its Lannister gold, this sword found its way to Brienne of Tarth.
It represents a promise kept. It is the perfect gift for someone who values loyalty above all else. Or, if you're like me, you just want the flashiest, most complicated-looking sword from the series to put on your shelf.

The Blacksmith's Verdict

Is it worth $29.99?

  • If you just want a sword from Game of Thrones, stick with the Dark Sister ($19.99). It’s cheaper and gets the job done.

  • But if you want THE sword—the one that feels substantial, looks expensive, and acts as a centerpiece—Oathkeeper is the only choice.

It’s big, it’s heavy, and it’s unapologetically gold. Tywin would approve.

Keep your vows.
