The God of War Metal Replica FAQ: What to Know Before You Buy 15-35cm Weapons
Welcome back to the BlacksmithSONG forge. Since we started chronicling our high-density die-cast techniques in our Ultimate Armory Engineering series, our inbox has exploded with questions.
Some gamers want to know exact specs. Some people buying gifts want to make sure these heavy metal artifacts are safe around their fragile monitors. Some folks just want to know if they can use them to chop actual vegetables (spoiler alert: Please don't).
We sat down, dropped our hammers, and answered the most frequent questions about building a God of War desktop diorama. Welcome to the official Blacksmith Ask Me Anything (AMA).
Physical Dimensions & Weight (The Math)
Q: Just how heavy is the heaviest 15-30cm replica you forge?
A: This usually surprises people. We discussed this in our Best Desk Accessory Award Post. The heaviest single hand-held set is actually the smallest! At only 13cm long, the **Blades of Chaos ** weigh a staggering 125 grams because of their immensely thick ricasso and dual metal chains. It's essentially an anchor of pure zinc. Mjolnir sits incredibly close at 118g.
Surprise contender: While the Blades of Chaos weigh 125g, did you know our [18cm Aesir Bow] actually weighs 116g thanks to its massive solid metal quiver piece? Ranged doesn't always mean light!
Q: I have a small desk. Is a 35cm Spear going to be way too big?
A: We consider 35cm (roughly 14 inches) a "Vertical Centerpiece." To put it in perspective, that is almost the vertical height of a standard PC tower or a PS5 console. While laying the Draupnir Spear flat across your mousepad takes up massive space, putting it upright on its dedicated black display stand makes it fit tightly beside a monitor without clutter.
The Metal, Materials, and Edge Sharpness
Q: Are the blades sharp enough to cut anything? Is this a safety hazard?
A: Absolutely not. While we strive for extreme Nordic precision, these are blunt display pieces and high-end desk accessories, not cutlery. Our die-cast zinc alloy molds are carved deep enough to look lethally realistic (just look at the fine slashing points on the Ingrid sword and Dauntless Shield combo setups). But the edges themselves will safely trace against your skin without breaking it. However, because they are heavy solid metal, do not drop the 118g Mjolnir on your foot.
Q: Will these metal replicas scratch my wooden gaming desk or glass display shelf?
A: If you violently scrape the point of a solid metal axe across a delicate wood finish, yes, physics wins. But practically, that’s why we engineer our weapon geometry so they can securely "rest" safely on included black/wood display stands. Additionally, if you employ our Diorama Loadout strategy, we suggest placing heavy pieces like the Guardian Shield or the Leviathan Axe down on dark slate rock, bark, or custom mats. Keep the raw metal off the fragile screens and glass shelves by anchoring it properly!
Gifting & "Off-Label" Uses
Q: Are these meant for children?
A: These are adult gamer collectibles. Because of the incredible weight density, complex (sometimes tiny) chains on the Chaos Blades, and rigid dimensions, these are not meant for small children who throw things. They belong firmly on the high-end battle station of a 15-40-year-old warrior. Check out our tailored gamer gift matching guide here if you're stuck buying a birthday present.
While we carry heavy beasts, we also cast phenomenally sharp-looking (but safe!) thin pieces that shouldn't be bent—like our new 41g [lightweight ghost fencer, the Skofnung sword.]
Q: Strange question... I want to use a sword as a wedding/birthday cake topper. Would that work?
A: Honestly? Proceed with caution! If you use a 30g Gungnir spear or the nimble 74g Dauntless Shield, it might just balance beautifully atop stiff fondant. However, if you stick the incredibly massive 118g Mjolnir onto the top tier of a soft sponge cake, that hammer is dropping straight through to the plate!
