The Heavy Weight of Spartan Sins: Engineering the 13cm, 125g Blades of Chaos Metal Replica

25 Feb 2026 0 comments

Welcome back to the forge. If you're a long-time regular at BlacksmithSONG, you know we don’t do hollow plastic or flimsy die-casts that snap in the mail. We build miniature relics for gamers who want their desk accessories to feel like actual weapons.

Today, we are laying the most requested piece from our God of War Collection on the anvil: The iconic Blades of Chaos.

Before we get into the grueling numbers and casting processes, I suggest you take a look at our forgecam footage below to feel the heat. We lit up the anvil for these.

The Forge Data: The Geometry of Violence

To understand the absurdity of these miniature twin blades, we first need to look at the raw physical data. As engineers and hardcore fans, we are incredibly transparent about our specs.

Weapon Classification Length Total Weight Material Base Finish
Blades of Chaos (Pair) 13 cm 125 g Solid Zinc Alloy Antique Wash & Magma Fill
Draupnir Spear (For Context) 35 cm 116 g Zinc Alloy Matte Metallic

(Yes, you read that table right. Let’s talk about that physics paradox).

Why Does 13 Centimeters Feel So Damn Heavy?

If you pick up an ordinary 13cm toy keychain, you expect it to weigh maybe 20 to 30 grams.

Look at the hand-held scale shot above

When you rest these twin blades in your palm, the unexpected 125-gram heft drops straight down into your hand. How is a 13cm weapon heavier than our massive 35cm Draupnir Spear?

The secret lies in the base of the blades and the incredibly thick ricasso (the unsharpened part of the blade just above the hilt). Unlike spears or thin swords which taper out, the Blades of Chaos are fundamentally cleavers. They demand thick, unyielding mass. We used high-density zinc alloy molds, ensuring zero hollow cavities inside the hilt. When you use this as a paperweight, your blueprints—or tax documents—aren't flying away even in a blizzard from Fimbulwinter.

The Nightmare of Miniature Chains

As any blacksmith or mold-maker will tell you, thin chains at a micro-scale are the enemy. The lore says the original chains were seared into Kratos's forearms by Ares himself

Translating that to miniature metal was our own personal curse. Instead of using generic jewelry rings that would instantly snap under the 125g weight, we opted for specialized, hardened alloy loops securely bolted to the pummel cap. They jingle. They drape realistically. And most importantly, they support the blades if you hang them.

Texturing the Magma: It's All in the Scars

Let's check the surface treatment. Look closely at the hilt and blade detail shot we captured in the forge .

A standard silver polish would look too clean, too angelic for something birthed in the Underworld.

  1. The Antique Wash: We run these blades through a heavy tumbling and chemical oxidation process. This creates the dark, pitted recesses of battle-worn steel.

  2. The Faux Leather Wrap: Notice the segmented grips? That's etched metal precision, colored to mimic deeply weathered leather, giving a visual contrast against the raw iron colors.

  3. The Blood / Magma Inlays: Those red fissures trailing up the flat of the blade are individually flooded with enamel. If the cast wasn't deep enough, the paint would wipe away; but because we carved the initial mold extra deep, the "fire" stays locked inside the metal permanently.

Displaying Your Relics

Such a hefty pair of weapons requires proper framing. If you've got them tossed casually next to your keyboard, they look great, but they shine when elevated.

Look at the setup we created with the vertical pillar stand below.

Whether you prefer the dramatic vertical drop, or the chaotic, chains-tangled-over-stones aesthetic, these miniatures anchor the visual gravity of any gaming desk.

Want to feel the 125 grams of pure, unfiltered Spartan fury for yourself? Stop letting your desk look like a pacifist's retreat. Add the Blades of Chaos to your arsenal today.
