Look at the handheld scale shot above. The sword stretches entirely across the forearm. The secret to its 49g agility is the extreme negative space. The blade is essentially split down the middle, creating a long hollow channel designed to literally "cleave the wind" and send vacuums of pressurized air at enemies. Casting this massive hollow gap in zinc alloy without the fragile katana tip snapping requires masterful mold-cooling techniques.

• Is the blade real metal?

  • Yes. The blade, the crossguard, and the crimson wrapped hilt are 100% solid, cold zinc alloy.

• Is the black scabbard also metal?

  • No, the scabbard is high-density molded plastic. Why? Two reasons. First, a metal scabbard of this length would completely throw off the balance of the display. Second, and most importantly, sliding a metal katana in and out of a metal scabbard would instantly scratch and destroy the beautiful silver electroplating on the blade.
