Why Did We Bury a Gravity Arrow in Our Own Red Sand?

Because this one does not belong on velvet. It belongs on a battlefield that has already ended.

The set is the Wailing Dunes — the stretch of coast at the far southeast edge of Caelid where the Radahn Festival is held. We laid the floor in fine red sand and built the cliff walls up in layers, so the light rakes across them the way late sun rakes across sandstone. Then we dressed it as a field nobody came back to clean: a helmet lying on its side, a shield half-sunk, a banner going nowhere, a saddle with no horse left under it.

Off to one side stands a warrior jar — Alexander, who turns up to this fight the way he turns up to every fight worth having. Out in the middle of the sand, a single purple arrow is driven point-down beside a cluster of amethyst, with a faint violet glow leaking up between the grains, because gravity magic in this game has never once been subtle about announcing itself. Near the left edge there's a golden message glowing in the sand. We didn't write what it says. You already know what it says.

Who Was Starscourge Radahn, and Why Does One Man Need Two Greatswords?

Radahn is the son of Radagon and Rennala, brother to Ranni and Rykard, and the general who held Caelid for the Redmanes. He is also the demigod every other boss in the game quietly gets measured against.

The two-sword thing isn't showmanship, it's arithmetic. He is strong enough that a single colossal sword would be wasting him, so he carries a matched pair and swings them like a man clearing brush.

The gravity sorcery has the better story. Radahn studied at Sellia, the town of sorcery, and learned to bend gravity — not to break armies, at first, but so he could keep riding Leonard, the horse he'd had since boyhood and had long since outgrown. The most feared warlord on the continent took up magic so he wouldn't have to give up his horse. What Does "Starscourge" Actually Mean?

It means he stopped the sky.

Radahn turned that gravity magic upward and pinned the stars in place — and in a world where the stars carry fate, freezing them froze destiny along with them. Ranni's plans stalled for exactly as long as her brother kept his grip. The title isn't really about scourging stars. It's about putting them in a headlock for a few centuries.

What finally broke him wasn't a stronger opponent. At the Battle of Aeonia he met Malenia, and neither of them won: she bloomed, the Scarlet Rot swallowed the region, and Radahn walked out alive but hollowed — a great warrior reduced to a body that still swings. The festival at the Wailing Dunes exists to give him the ending that battle refused him. The blade that fought him to a standstill is the Hand of Malenia , and the two of them make the best rivalry in the game.

How Heavy Is a Pair of Colossal Swords on an Actual Desk?

In hand it reads as one solid mass rather than a hollow prop. Zinc alloy pulls the heat out of your palm in about two seconds, and the black is a deep matte that swallows light while the gold scrollwork picks it straight back up — that gold is hand-applied paint over cast metal, not plating or inlay, and it's the reason the fuller pattern looks etched rather than printed.
