No Crown, No Jewels, No Gimmicks: Why the $19.99 "Ranger Sword" Is Our Best Everyday Replica
If you look at Andúril, you see a destiny. If you look at the Ranger Sword, you see a job.
This weapon (often called the Strider Sword) is the defining tool of Aragorn before he accepts his heritage. It is beaten, worn, and utterly reliable.
Translating this into a $19.99 zinc alloy miniature presents a different challenge than the High Elven blades. We didn't need to make it shine; we needed to make it look used.
We also made a controversial engineering choice regarding the famous "side-knife."
Here is a technical breakdown of the 67g Ranger Sword, and why sometimes, less is more.

The "Knife" Decision: Why We Removed It
Let’s address the most common question first: “Where is the hunting knife?”
In the movie prop, the scabbard has a small utility knife attached to the side.
We deliberately removed it for this scale model.
Why?
-
Durability: At the 22cm scale, that extra knife would be a tiny, fragile piece of metal barely 2cm long. It tends to snap off or get lost in shipping.
-
Hand-Feel: By removing the bulky side-sheath, the scabbard becomes slim and cylindrical. It fits better in the hand.
As you can see in the handheld comparison shot, this results in a clean, unobstructed profile that slides easily into a pocket or a pencil holder.
The Texture: Making Metal Look Like Leather
Look closely at the handle grip in the close-up images.
This is solid metal, but it doesn't look like it.
We used a High-Fidelity Mold that imitates the bumps and ridges of the leather wrapping found on the original prop.
-
The Finish: Instead of a glossy chrome (used on Thranduil’s Sword), we applied a Matte Satin finish to the crossguard and pommel. It doesn't reflect light like a mirror; it diffuses it. This mimics the look of steel that has been exposed to the rain and mud of the Wild for decades.
67g: The "Letter Opener" Sweet Spot
At 67g, this sword is light.
But because the handle is a solid metal casting with a distinct pommel, the center of gravity sits right near the crossguard.
This makes it the most functional Letter Opener in our entire catalog. It doesn't have the heavy "drag" of Orcrist. It zips through paper envelopes with the same speed Aragorn used to parry Ringwraiths on Weathertop.
(Cinematic video of Ranger Sword resting next to a campfire and a green elven cloak, symbolizing survival in the wild)
Watch the video above. We filmed this next to a crackling campfire and a dark green cloak. This isn't a sword that belongs in a throne room. It belongs next to a warm fire after a long day.
The Scabbard: Gunmetal Elegance
The scabbard ties the whole look together.
It features Gunmetal Grey fittings (the locket and chape) rather than gold or bright silver.
Notice the ring on the scabbard throat? In the show, this connects to the belt. On our replica, it adds a nice fidgety, tactical element. It feels mechanical and grounded.
The Blacksmith's Verdict
The Ranger Sword is the best "Daily Driver."
It’s affordable ($19.99), it’s durable (no tiny parts to break), and it captures the essence of the character perfectly.
-
Skip it if you want the flashiness of Oathkeeper.
-
Buy it if you want a subtle, reliable piece of Middle-earth on your desk that feels like a tool, not a toy.
Not all those who wander are lost.
