The Dark Twin: Forging the 22cm Thrungva Metal Sword Replica
Welcome back to the forge, warriors. Over the last few teardowns, we’ve looked at weapons designed for pure heroic defense, like the 12.5cm Dauntless Shield, and swords of noble Vanir elegance like the Ingrid blade.
But what if your setup needs something darker? What if you want a piece of metal that looks like it was ripped straight from the corrupted hands of Odin’s Einherjar?
Meet the Thrungva Sword.
Watch our forge-camera sweep over the diorama below. We surrounded this blade with the debris of a fallen, dark Norse kingdom—scattered raven feathers, crude burlap, and ruined marble tainted with toxic green magic. This is not a holy weapon.
The Forge Data: The "Dark Twin" Phenomenon
As die-hard BlacksmithSONG collectors know from studying our Full Collection Parameter Guide, making a sleek 22cm sword perfectly balanced requires cutting-edge casting techniques.
| Weapon Classification | Total Length | Combined Weight | Metal Foundation | Aesthetic Vibe | Price |
| Thrungva (with Scabbard) | 22 cm | 85 g | Die-cast Zinc Alloy | Dark Nordic, Einherjar, Corrupted | $19.99 |
| Ingrid Sword (For Context) | 22 cm | 88 g | Zinc Alloy | Bright Elven, Polished, Magical | $19.99 |
Thrungva acts as the dark counterpart to our popular Ingrid sword. Look at the hand-held scaling picture below.
At 22cm long but maintaining a dense, satisfying 85g combined weight, the mold demands aggressive tapers without sacrificing core strength. Because it’s relatively heavy for its slender width, this sword carries an impressive downward gravitational pull when you hold the handle.
Etched in Shadow: The Scabbard and Raven Hilt
We never ship flat, boring iron. The true engineering behind Thrungva lies in the dark oxidation process and the deep, relief-etched scabbard.
Check the macro detailing of the hilt and sheath we photographed resting on a slice of natural pine:
-
The Beast Pommel: Zoom in on the very end of the handle. We sculpted twin raven or beast heads mirroring each other at the pommel. Unlike the bright brass of other weapons, this grip features a pitch-black oxidized finish, ensuring it looks genuinely ancient and combat-weathered.
-
The Frictional Scabbard Resonance: Much like the legendary drawing action we perfected before, sheathing this bright, lethal silver blade into the dark zinc scabbard yields a perfect metal-on-metal "schnng" sound. The exterior of the scabbard is covered in flowing, intertwining Norse runes—flooded with a black wash so they are permanently legible, even in a dim gaming room.
Displaying the Corrupted Arsenal
A weapon this striking shouldn't be tossed inside a desk drawer. Whether you use the included vertical desktop easel to mount it majestically beside your monitors, or employ a flat-lay design using slate, feathers, and rough fabric as we did, it commands respect.
The silver blade dramatically popping against the deep charcoal sheath is the exact aesthetic you need to finish an Einherjar camp display. If your armory only consists of the hero's main axes and blades, you are only telling half the story of the Nine Realms.
Add a piece of beautiful dark magic to your collection.
