The 35cm Challenge: Engineering the Draupnir Spear God of War Metal Replica
Welcome back to the forge. Any blacksmith will tell you a dirty secret: forging a chunky, heavy hammer is relatively easy. Forging a 35-centimeter-long, perfectly straight spear out of molten metal without it bending, warping, or feeling like a heavy crowbar? That takes master-level engineering.
Today, we are looking at Kratos’s most elegant and precise instrument of war. Birthed from a duplicating ring and divine blood: The Draupnir Spear.
Check out our studio forge-cam below. We made sure to scatter plenty of gold rings and blocks in the ashes—a nod to the magical Draupnir ring from the Norse mythos that duplicates every ninth night.
The Forge Data: The Length vs. Weight Paradox
We’ve talked about physical weight a lot in this series, specifically how absurdly heavy the 13cm Blades of Chaos are at 125 grams. Now, prepare to have your physics twisted by the Draupnir Spear.
| Weapon Classification | Length | Total Weight | Material Base | Visual Signature | Price |
| Draupnir Spear | 35 cm | 116 g | Solid Zinc Alloy | Gold replicating rings & Blood red gems | $29.99 |
| Blades of Chaos | 13 cm | 125 g | Solid Zinc Alloy | Magma fissures & Real chains | $29.99 |
Did you catch that? The spear is nearly three times the length of the Blades of Chaos, yet it weighs 9 grams less. How? And more importantly, why?
Defeating the "Warp" Effect
When dealing with a 35cm solid zinc alloy casting, gravity and structural tension are your biggest enemies.
If we made the shaft too thick, the weapon would weigh close to half a pound. At that weight, laying it flat on a display stand would cause the soft middle of the alloy to eventually bow or warp. It wouldn’t look like a spear; it would look like a bent antenna.
Look at the hand-held scale shot below to see just how slender and aggressive this geometry is.
To solve this, we hollowed the structural logic. The mass is heavily concentrated in the massive spearhead and the pommel, pulling the center of gravity outward. The long shaft tapers down precisely, forged from high-density die-cast zinc. The result is a massive 116-gram weapon that feels lightning-fast in the hand, but holds its arrow-straight form perfectly forever.
Gold Rings and the Blood of a God
Let's zoom in on the aesthetic finish. The magic of Draupnir lies in its details, and reproducing them required two high-failure-rate manufacturing techniques.
-
Selective Electroplating (The Gold): Throughout the dark, oxidized metallic shaft, you will notice bands of gleaming gold (the replicating rings) and an intricate, majestic pommel. We can't just "paint" this on; it has to be dual-color electroplated so the gold carries the cold touch and shine of real jewelry.
-
The "God's Blood" Enamel Flood: On the spearhead itself, surrounded by Norse etchings, there are distinct crimson elements. To achieve this, the mold features recessed cavities where the "blood" belongs. We hand-drop rich, ruby-red liquid enamel into these cavities. It cures into a hard, glossy, gemstone-like finish that brilliantly offsets the raw metal.
Managing a 35cm Masterpiece on Your Desk
Because it belongs to our $29.99 premium tier, a weapon this size commands respect. You don't toss a 35cm Spartan-Dwarven weapon onto a messy pile of cables.
As we recommended in our Ultimate Display Setup Guide , this massive artifact demands to be the anchor of your gaming station. Whether utilizing the twin horizontal pegs of a dedicated stand, or laying it regally on dark stones, it fills up empty desk real estate like nothing else in the armory.
The wind is blowing in Svartalfheim. Brok and Sindri did their job, and we did ours.
