What Is the Dawn Sword?

Dawn is the ancestral greatsword of a southern house, and it isn't steel — legend has it forged from the heart of a fallen star, which is why the blade runs milk-pale instead of dark. It passes not from lord to heir but to whichever knight of that house is judged worthy, and that knight is titled for the morning itself.

The Crater, Not the Forge

We built this one as an impact site rather than a smithy: black volcanic grit for ground, split dark rock, and raw amethyst pushing up through the sand. No castle, no banners, no anvil — just the place the metal arrived, long before anyone had the nerve to make a sword out of it. The purple is the only color anywhere in the set; everything else is black, because we wanted exactly one thing on this page to look like it came from somewhere else. About as long as a chopstick out of your kitchen drawer, and lighter than the silhouette suggests at 70g (2.5 oz) — enough metal to feel serious in the hand, not enough to be clumsy. One Pour, One Body

Each piece is die-cast in zinc alloy as a single body, then hand-finished by the two of us. The narrow fullers running the full length of this blade are shaped in the mold, which is why they hold a clean line all the way to the point and throw light in stripes rather than one flat glare. The swept guard comes off the same pour. Every edge stays blunt straight from the mold — the only thing this one cuts is the light.
