What Is Skofnung in God of War?

Skofnung is the sword of legendary berserker king Hrólf Kraki — reputedly the sharpest blade in Midgard, said to hold the souls of the king and his twelve berserkers. In God of War Ragnarök, players only recover the Inert Hilt of Skofnung at King's Grave; the full blade appears only in the hands of the king himself, during the final battle.

We built this one straight out of the boss fight's aftermath — weathered gravestones etched with runes that glow faint green in the dark, dead trees clawing up around the plot, and the wreckage of a losing battle scattered through the frost: broken Viking shields, a spent axe, rusted chain links, and more than a few skulls half-buried in the snow. Beside the largest headstone sits a crown in the same style the king himself wears — a quiet marker for whose grave this actually is. Cast, Not Cut

Each Skofnung replica is die-cast as a single zinc-alloy body, then hand-finished. The scrollwork crossguard and the fuller running down the blade's center are shaped straight into the mold, and a small green gem sits set into the guard where the quillons meet.
