What Is the Draupnir Spear?

The Draupnir Spear takes its name from Odin's self-multiplying gold ring in Norse myth — and in the story, it's that very ring the Huldra Brothers melt down to forge it, adding a drop of Kratos' own blood. The result: a weapon built to overwhelm the one god who reads every move before it lands, Heimdall.

The Scene: A Forge in the Rock

We built a mining forge for this one — a bone-dry root pulled from the rock, our signature red cloth draped over a branch, raw gold and silver ore stacked near a scorched anvil. The black grit is threaded with gold flake, and scattered through it are loose gold rings — nine nights' worth of the duplication this spear is named for. Norse myth already had this weapon competing before the game did: Draupnir was one of Brokkr and Eitri's entries in the same forge contest whose rival team built Gungnir ,rivals since long before Kratos picked either one up. Every photo here is a real shot inside that handcrafted set. No CGI, no renders.

Lay a standard 30cm ruler down and this spear still runs past the end of it — 35cm (13.8") tip to butt, the longest piece in this whole series. At 116g (4.1 oz), the weight sits mostly in the ornamented blade base rather than the shaft, so it carries lighter than its length suggests. The in-hand photo above shows the real proportions.

Cast, Not Cut

Each spearhead is die-cast in zinc alloy as a single body, then hand-finished. The rune-lined engraving across both flats and the red gem set into the blade base are shaped into the mold itself, not layered on after.
