What Is the Shusui?

The Shusui is a black-bladed katana that once belonged to Ryuma, a legendary Wano swordsman. It wasn't always black — the blade darkened gradually through years of battle at his side. Zoro inherited it after defeating Ryuma's undead form on Thriller Bark, and carried it until Wano, where he traded it for Enma to stay home as a national treasure.

Where the Weight Comes From

Shusui is die-cast in zinc alloy as a single body, then hand-finished — the curve, the tsuba, and the wavy edge line are all shaped in the mold. The purple pattern down the scabbard sits under the black lacquer rather than painted over it. Most of that 68g (2.4 oz) lives in the blade itself, with the handle staying noticeably lighter.
