What Is Longclaw?

Longclaw is a hand-and-a-half bastard sword of rippled, smoke-grey steel from a drowned empire, carried for five hundred years by one northern island house. Its old lord commander gave it away to a certain brooding bastard sworn to a wall of ice — the young man had just saved his life — and had the bear's-head pommel recut as a wolf's first.

The Village Under Snow

We packed an entire borderland into one tray of snow for this shoot: thatched huts crowded along the left edge, a stone keep and its towers holding the right, clear quartz chips salted through the drifts where the ice would be. The sword lies where somebody set it down, scabbard alongside, strap still trailing. Every photo on this page is a real camera pointed at a real object inside that handcrafted set — no CGI, no renders. And this blade never finished the long war alone: the dagger that ended the longest night is cast at 18cm and sits one shelf over.

The Honest Size Check

30cm is a full 12-inch ruler, end to end — we laid one right along the blade in the size photo so you don't have to trust an adjective. At 157g (5.5 oz) it carries the settled weight of an actual object: heavy enough that you put it down deliberately, light enough that one hand does the whole job. The Metalwork

Blade, down-swept crossguard and pale wolf's-head pommel leave the mold as one zinc-alloy body, then get cleaned up by hand at our bench. The relief on the guard and the tight spiral texture down the grip are shaped in the mold, so they survive a macro lens. The rippled figuring runs the blade's full length and is hand-finished.
