All ten pieces are die-cast zinc alloy, recommended for ages 14+. Nine are cast blunt with no functional edge; Auriel's Bow is a solid cast piece with no moving parts. By size. Okin is the shortest piece here at 17cm (6.7in) — close to a new pencil, which runs about 19cm. Five pieces land at 21cm (8.3in): Eduj, Windshear, Chillrend, Nightingale Blade, and Blade of Sacrifice. Dawnbreaker and Dragonbone Greatsword both sit at 22cm (8.7in), and Ebony Blade runs longest at 26cm (10.2in) — about the length of a table knife, blade and handle together.

Ten Weapons, Five Stories Worth Knowing

Two weapons, one tomb. Eduj and Okin were forged by the same smith, Haman Forgefire, for the same Nord warrior, Kvenel the Tongue — and buried with him afterward in the same tomb, Volunruud. Their enchantments match exactly: the same frost damage, the same slowing effect, the same duration. Most players end up carrying one and selling the other, which is its own kind of irony for a matched set that specific.

A sword by any other name. Windshear looks like a standard one-handed sword on the shelf, but in the game's own files it's logged as a scimitar — a curved blade, not a straight one. It turns up aboard a ship, the Katariah, and its signature trick is a block that can knock an attacker clean off balance.

Two pieces from the same expansion. Auriel's Bow and Dragonbone Greatsword both arrived with the Dawnguard expansion. Auriel's Bow is said to have belonged to the elven god Auri-El, and its signature trick is genuinely strange: paired with the right kind of arrow, it can make the sun itself disappear until the next morning. Dragonbone Greatsword asks more of the player — it can't just be found, it has to be forged, and only after reaching the top of the smithing tree.

Three gifts from three Daedric princes. Dawnbreaker, Ebony Blade, and Blade of Sacrifice are each tied to a different Daedric Prince — Meridia, Mephala, and Boethiah. Dawnbreaker carries a fire enchantment that can outright detonate undead enemies, which is exactly the kind of gift you'd expect from a prince opposed to undeath. Ebony Blade is officially classed as a two-handed weapon, but by its own in-game description it handles more like a one-handed sword — fast, short-reaching, unusually light for its length — and its power only grows if you're willing to betray someone who trusts you, which is the kind of price tag Mephala's gifts tend to carry. And Blade of Sacrifice is exactly where its own name gets misleading: despite "Blade" in the title, it's a one-handed dagger, not a sword. We're not going to sell it as something it isn't.

Two weapons, one guild. Chillrend and Nightingale Blade both surface along the Thieves Guild questline. Chillrend sits behind a locked case in the guildmaster's own house; Nightingale Blade changes hands during one of the storyline's turning points. Both are also leveled items in the game, meaning their in-game stats scale to when you actually pick them up.
