A drop most players never see. Elucidator is Kirito's original one-handed sword, and the story is specific about where it came from: a rare item dropped by a high-level boss, not something crafted or bought. It's the sword he's known for early on, and it stays with him for most of the story.

A commission, not a drop. Dark Repulser is different — it's forged for Kirito by Lisbeth, one of the series' most recognizable supporting characters, out of a rare material called a Crystallite Ingot. Where Elucidator is luck, Dark Repulser is a favor and a friendship.

The only two-handed build in the story. Together, the two swords are what let Kirito use a Unique Skill called Dual Blades — fighting with a sword in each hand, a style the game doesn't let anyone else use. That's the real reason these two are sold and written about as a pair rather than as two separate swords: in the story, one without the other is only half a build.

A blade that gets broken on-screen. Elucidator doesn't survive the story unscathed — it's shattered at a pivotal moment that's stayed with a lot of viewers long after the scene ended. We won't spoil exactly where, but if you've seen it, you already know which scene we mean.
