In the games this shield rides on Kratos' arm from the very first chapter, and it isn't just gear: it was handed down to him by his late wife, the same person who gave him the axe behind the shield — a matched pair from the same hand. The segmented wing panels radiating from the center boss, the fluted sunburst at its core, and the curling horn-like flourishes wrapping the sides are all shaped into the mold itself, not stamped on after.
