How Long Does Shipping From China Take? We Tracked 150+ of Our Own Orders

26 Sep 2026 0 comments

Our orders ship from China and arrive in a median of 10 days — 9.7 days to US addresses, 10.8 days everywhere else. We measured it in September 2026 across 150+ tracked deliveries, clocked from the moment an order was placed to the carrier's delivered record.

The number that stopped us wasn't the 10. It was the gap between the other two: about a day. A two-person studio shipping from China, and the typical wait comes out roughly the same whether the box is headed to Ohio or Osaka. We didn't expect to be able to write that sentence.

We're BlacksmithSONG, an independent two-person studio photographing die-cast zinc alloy weapon collectibles inside miniature dioramas we model, 3D-print and hand-paint ourselves. Below: exactly how we counted, what the numbers say, and the part of the data we'd rather you hear from us than find out at your mailbox.

What Exactly Did We Measure?

We took 150+ orders with a carrier-confirmed delivery and counted calendar days from the moment each order was placed to the moment the carrier marked it delivered. That clock includes the 1–2 business days we take to pack and hand over a parcel, because from your side of the screen, that's part of the wait too.

What we measured Result
Sample 150+ tracked deliveries
When we pulled the numbers September 2026
Clock starts The moment the order is placed
Clock stops The carrier's delivered record
Median, all orders 10 days
Median, US addresses 9.7 days
Median, outside the US 10.8 days
The slow tail Roughly 1 parcel in 10 took three to four weeks — nearly all held up in customs

In one line: a 10-day median across 150+ tracked deliveries, measured September 2026, counted in calendar days from order placed to carrier-confirmed delivery.

Two limits worth knowing. The sample only includes parcels that had already arrived when we pulled the numbers, so anything still in transit that week isn't in it. And every non-US order sits in one pooled group rather than being split by country — so read 10.8 days as "outside the US," not as a promise for any single country.

Is Shipping to the US Actually Faster?

Only just. US addresses came in at a 9.7-day median, everywhere else at 10.8 — about one day apart.

We can't pin that small gap on any single cause, but part of the picture is simple: from where we sit, there's no such thing as a domestic order. Every parcel, Ohio-bound or Osaka-bound, starts life as an international shipment leaving China. We hand orders to international carriers — YunExpress, 4PX, Yanwen and similar — and pick the route by destination rather than by habit, so no single country gets to play a home game.

Why Do We Still Quote a Range Instead of a Number?

If we could keep only one sentence from this whole post, it would be this one:

We still quote a range instead of a number, because a median means half of all parcels arrive later than that.

Ten days is the middle of the line, not the back of it. Print "10 days" at checkout and stop there, and we'd be right on average and wrong for roughly half the people who read it. So the measured number lives here, in a post that shows its working, and the commitment lives in our shipping policy: a quoted range for each region, with an outer limit attached.

What Happens to the Slow One in Ten?

Roughly one parcel in ten took three to four weeks, and nearly all of those were held up in customs rather than lost. Customs is the one leg of the trip we don't control: a parcel can sit at a border for weeks with no update, then start moving again as if nothing happened.

What that looks like from your end:

  • A blank tracking page for the first few days is normal. The number exists; the parcel is still on its way to the outbound hub.
  • A long pause mid-route usually means customs, not a lost box.
  • No update for ten days? Email us at support@blacksmithsong.com. We'll chase the carrier, and if it can't be resolved, we reship or refund. That's written into the policy, not a favor we might do on a good day.

How Far Ahead Should You Order a Gift?

If the date matters, give it four weeks. The median says ten days, but a birthday present doesn't get to gamble on landing in the faster half — four weeks of runway covers the customs tail we actually saw, not just the middle.

A few things add days before the parcel is even moving:

  • We pack and hand over orders within 1–2 business days. That time is already inside the 10-day median.
  • We ship Monday to Friday. Orders placed over a weekend or during a Chinese public holiday go out on the next working day — Lunar New Year and the first week of October are the long ones.
  • We haven't split the data by season, so for a December holiday, treat four weeks as the floor, not the target.

Shipping straight to the recipient? There's a gift-note field at checkout — we'll write your note out and leave the invoice out of the box.

Does the Size of the Piece Change Anything?

Not the terms. There's no minimum order and no size surcharge: a 7 cm (2.8 in) shield and a 47.5 cm (18.7 in) twinblade almost seven times its length ship on the same free, tracked terms, each in a foam-lined gift box inside a water-resistant outer carton. Add a display stand and it rides in the same box.

1/6 scale Eleonora's Poleblade metal miniature separated inside a black gift box, placed in the ruins of the Second Church of Marika diorama.

Piece Length Listed weight Price (piece only)
Traveler's Shield 7 cm (2.8 in) 50 g (1.8 oz) $19.99
Viconia's Walking Fortress 10 cm (3.9 in) 70 g (2.5 oz) $14.99
Eleonora's Poleblade 47.5 cm (18.7 in) 98 g (3.5 oz) $29.99

One honest limit here, too: our medians pool every order in the sample, whatever was in the box. We haven't broken delivery times down by size, so we won't claim a twinblade travels exactly as fast as a shield — only that it ships on the same terms. Shopping by scale rather than by story? The size shelves run from Mini Metal Replicas Under 9 cm up to Large Metal Replicas 30 cm and Up.

The Honest Corner

This post is about the clock, but the usual ground rules still apply to what's in the box. Every piece is a die-cast zinc alloy display collectible with blunt cast edges, not a functional weapon. Recommended for ages 14+. Fan-made and unofficial — not affiliated with, endorsed by, or licensed by Nintendo, Larian Studios, Wizards of the Coast, FromSoftware, Bandai Namco, or any other rights holder behind the worlds our pieces come from. Every photo on our product pages is ours — shot in our own studio, of the exact piece we ship — with no CGI and no renders.

Shipping FAQ

How long does BlacksmithSONG take to deliver?

About 10 days door to door, as a median — 9.7 days to the US and 10.8 days elsewhere, measured September 2026 across 150+ tracked deliveries. Roughly one parcel in ten takes three to four weeks, almost always because of customs.

Where do orders ship from?

China. Every parcel goes out with an international carrier — YunExpress, 4PX, Yanwen or similar, chosen by destination — and the tracking number lands in your inbox as soon as it's handed over.

Will I have to pay customs fees or import duties?

In the great majority of destinations, no — duties are handled before the parcel leaves us. Customs rules do change, though, so if a carrier ever asks you for a fee we didn't warn you about, send us the notice and we'll sort it out with you.

My tracking hasn't moved in days. Is my parcel lost?

Probably not. A blank page in the first few days is normal, and a long pause mid-route is usually customs. If there's been no update for ten days, email us: we'll chase the carrier, then reship or refund if it can't be resolved.

Does the 30-day guarantee start when I order or when it arrives?

When it arrives. Our refund policy counts the 30 days from the day your order is delivered, so a parcel that spends extra time in customs doesn't eat into your window.

Is shipping free on a small order, and how do I pay?

Yes — free worldwide shipping with tracking applies to every order, with no minimum. Payment options are shown at checkout.

If you like your numbers with the method attached, we've done this before with a kitchen scale: we weighed our Zelda replicas one piece at a time. And if there's a date circled on your calendar, count back four weeks and start from there.
